Check out my latest article at The Hockey Writers (THW):

A borderline hallucinogenic optimistic hockey writer's version of history repeating.
Some great classic videos inserted as well!
With both conference finals at 2 zip, a Pittsburgh versus Detroit final seems all the more inevitable.
Evgeny "Geno" Malkin's 4 point and hat-trick performance last night sealed the victory for the Penguins in Game 2. Check out the interview and highlights, especially the amazing third goal in the following video courtesy of Versus:

The Oilers did not sweep the Isles. They won in 5. I don't think you can compare the Pens and Wings to the Isles/Oilers. When they win at least three in a row, then we can start the conversation. The Islanders still hold the record for most consecutive playoff series wins at 19. That streak is the longest for any North American sports franchise, including the Oilers, Canadians, and Yankees.
Thanks Scott - caught me on that one - shouldn't have relied on my memory as a toddler hockey fan! I've since corrected it!
I have to disagree about not being able to compare, but you have to qualify the comparison in the realm of today's NHL and the salary cap world, as I noted in my article. A dynasty is all the harder to achieve this day and age and it will take a lot of things falling in place for any team to win 3 in a row, let alone 4 or 5.
