The Hockey Spy’s 2010 NHL Entry Draft Preview – Jeffrey Skinner

2010 Home Hardware CHL-NHL Top Prospects Game

Jeffrey Skinner

Position: Center

Age: 18

Date of Birth: May 16, 1992

Place of Birth: Markham, Ontario

Ht: 5-10 Wt: 182

Shoots: Left

2009-10 Team: Kitchener(OHL)

NHL Status: Draft Eligible 2010

One-Timer:

After a very impressive 50 goal campaign as a 17 year old in the OHL, Skinner absolutely exploded in the playoffs and took his game to an even higher level scoring 20 goals in 20 games and added 13 assists.

He is one of the top snipers in the draft, possessing one of the best sets of hands bar none.

Why then is there such a wide range of opinion on where Skinner will go in the upcoming draft?

The Hockey Spy’s 2010 NHL Entry Draft Preview – Brett Connolly

Brett Connolly

Born: May 2, 1992 in Campbell River, British Columbia

Height/Weight: 6-2/181 pounds

Position: Right Wing

Shoots: Right

2009-10 Team: Prince George (WHL)

NHL Status: Draft Eligible 2010

One-Timer:

Two word – hip injury.

No one denies Connolly’s high end talent. In actual fact, if not for his serious hip injury that required surgery and caused him to miss nearly the entire season, few doubt that he’d be giving Hall and Seguin a run for the prospect available.

When Brett is healthy, he’s an intensely competitive goal scoring force with good size and very good skating ability.

The Hockey Spy’s 2010 NHL Entry Draft Preview – Emerson Etem

Emerson Etem

Shoots: Right

Height: 6-0

Weight: 194 lbs

Birthdate: 1992-06-16

Hometown: Long Beach, California

Current team: Medicine Hat Tigers, WHL

NHL Status: Draft Eligible 2010

One-Timer:

Etem plays for one of the best coaches in the CHL in Willie Desjardins who marvels over the explosive forward: “Emerson is a great skater who opens up the ice real well. He is a real professional already. Everyday he prepares like a pro. His biggest strength is he wants to improve as a player. When you tell him something he is prepared to do it.” (NHL.com)

Dynamic skating speedsters with a goal-scorer’s touch are not easy to come by.He is also one of the younger of the top players available in the draft.

The Hockey Spy’s 2010 NHL Entry Draft Preview – Erik Gudbranson

NHL Combine 2010 - Day One

My 2010 NHL Entry Draft prospet profiles and draft coverage continues at The Hockey Writers (THW)
ERIK GUDBRANSON

Age: 18

Date of birth: January 07, 1992

Place of birth: Ottawa, Ont., Canada

Ht: 6-3.75 Wt: 195

Shoots: R

Current team: Kingston Frontenacs, OHL

NHL Status: Draft Eligible 2010

One-Timer:

Gudbranson might be raw at this point, but he’s the prototypical big, physical, skilled defenseman every GM and scout covets. He had a good sophomore year, but was limited somewhat as he battled a knee injury as well as a lengthy bout with mononucleosis.
