Red Light District: Mike Green Breaks Record With Goal In 8th Straight Game!

"Mr. Popular" (on this site anyway!), Mike Green, headlines yet again on The Hockey Spy! In a 5-1 win over The Lightning, Green lit the lamp for the 8th straight game. In so doing, he broke the record set by Mike O'Connell in the 1983-84 season for a goal-scoring streak by a defenseman.

As TSN reports:
Green has 10 goals and 17 points over the last eight games, and is one game away from tying the overall Washington consecutive game goal streak set by Alan Haworth (1985-86) and matched by Mike Gartner (1986-87).
Michael Neuvirth, the Capitals highly touted young goalie, also notched his first win in the game, with his parents in attendance. Mike Green's father was also in attendance and was obviously thrilled win Green set the mark.

I will make every attempt to do a post tomorrow not including Mike Green!

Keep your stick on the ice!

Not sure if I'd go that far, Pat, but I've been big on Green ever since his days in the WHL - not sure I could ever envision this for him though!G-R-E-E-N could easily spell NORRIS this yr!

Green deserves it, but how can you not even have Dan Boyle in your poll? He's fifth in points and tied for third in goals (and +15) despite playing in fewer games than anyone else but Green on your list. He won't win, but he should be in your top six...I'm guessing you don't get a chance to see much Pacific hockey, either.
